Street Art for the Haring Impaired

I was on Houston Street the other day and saw this Keith Haring mural. As a kid I was obsessed with Haring’s artwork, as trips into the city were always highlighted by the artist’s various murals along te FDR Expressway. His instantly-recognizable style helped legitimize graffiti as an art form in the 1980s. (It was also used to decorate over 11 pairs of size 6 converse hightops during school hours.) This mural was a tribute for Haring’s would-be 50th birthday in partnership with Deitch Projects and Goldman Properties have worked with Gothic Scenic. More info here. Happy belated.
