Not Burning Books but THE “Burning Book”
As Marc and I prepare for our annual inspiration trip out to Burning Man. I’ve been reading up on the history of the event in this beautifully designed book call Burning Book designed by Martin Venezky of Appetite Engineers. This book was clearly a labor love. Each page is a typographer’s dream with “pull quotes” of passages that visually convey the sentiment of the words themselves. Phrases actually E X P A N D or get bolder as necessary (note due to limitations of this blog, my examples are lame). See for yourself some of my favorite examples by clicking here. Due to the incredibly compelling design, reading this book has been fun, although it is only 1/100 as fun as actually attending the event itself. That’s just a fancy way of saying, “You just have to experience it for yourself.” More to come on our adventures out west soon.
