Caban Lilien: Wedding Invitation

Challenges This destination wedding, planned as an elegant affair to be held in the rustic Berkshires, needed an invitation that would provide information for guests to plan for the unusual location. The unique piece would also set the tone for other wedding materials. Strategy MSLK devised a format of five cards held inside an invitation shell with ribbon. This solution combined all information into one neatly packaged presentation for the ease of the guest. Design Each card—a formal invitation, directions, a list of local accommodations, and an RSVP postcard—was letterpressed. To add to the tactile quality, the folder was created out of a textured artisan paper and letterpressed with an illustration of the wedding location. Success In addition to effusive praise from the guests, the invitation was selected as a finalist among thousands of entries for the Mohawk Paper Show. The exhibit began at the Smithsonian’s Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum and traveled throughout North America and Europe.
