Queens is Doing it, Why Aren’t you?
A friend just tipped me off that our neighbors in the Queensbridge Houses just switched to energy-efficient fluorescent light bulbs. About 10,000 compact bulbs were donated to the New York City Housing Authority for the project. Apparently Queensbridge is also the nations largest public housing development, which I find surprising. Newsday states that it has more than 1,600 apartments in its 13 buildings and is home to more than 3,500 New Yorkers. In the random facts department, I’d also like to add that many hip-hop stars have called this development home, including Nas and my personal favorite, LL Cool J.
