Taaz Me Over
Claudia and I went to a lecture last night on beauty in the digital age. One of the speakers, Diana Hong (a Creative Director in the beauty industry), spoke at length about new cross marketing opportunities for beauty and fashion companies. Competition in the beauty world is fierce, and companies are constantly angling for new ways to market their product. Brands like Sephora have reinvented the in-store experience, but trying to sell make-up without giving consumers the ability to test it first can be a challenge. In the past, companies would rely on a series of questions about your skintone, hair and eye color to recommend products for you. Digital make-overs have always been a joke… until now.
Taaz is a new online center for virtual makeovers. Using a photograph of yourself, you can test out numerous eye, lip and face products to see how they work with you. Thinking of a new hairstyle? Taaz has several options in that department as well. Even better, once you’ve chosen the perfect look for yourself, you can view product recommendations based on the colors you’ve chosen. While not perfect, it’s surprisingly realistic! Some of the hair styles may not be readily achievable, but the make-up appears to actually take your skintone into account.
