BREAKING CONVENTIONS
IN HAIR BREAKAGE
Beauty industry veteran April Peck was looking to start a new line of category-busting haircare treatments designed to combat hair breakage. Dubbed ‘Tip to Root Hair Reboots,’ each product has been thoughtfully created from product concept through to packaging, earning several industry awards. SAVE ME FROM’s packaging offers a cathartic unboxing experience, requiring consumers to break open the carton via the source of damage to reveal the product within.

BRAND ARCHITECTURE + PRODUCT NAMING
Market and customer research revealed most products for hair are organized by hair type i.e. curly, normal, dry, etc. April’s concept was to create products that addressed the varying types of hair breakage, however research revealed that identifying specific types of breakage was challenging to consumers. During our brand strategy workshop, we brainstormed and worked with April to structure the line around products that address the root of hair damage. Inspired by April’s commitment to suicide prevention, we conceptualized a brand name that would “save” consumers’ hair.
DESIGN PROCESS
Although many design directions were explored, this design concept of a “zip strip” became a client favorite for its exciting unboxing experience. Early on, the design team envisioned a box that would be broken open by a pull strip that tore out the source of damage.

Black packaging with lifestyle-inspired photography is unique in the competitive environment at retail. These lifestyle images also became part of the online consumer shopping experience. An easy dispensing, air less pump protects the formulations and allows for precise application.

Every millimeter of the secondary carton (box) was maximized to tell this brand’s unique story: the source of damage, a proprietary ingredient in the formulation, and Save Me From’s social commitment to suicide prevention.

the brand experience online.
