Perfect For Egg Creams

Jason and I drink a lot of seltzer water. We probably go through at least two big bottles a week. Even though we recycle the bottles, it’s still a lot of waste considering how quickly we drink the water and how much energy it takes to recycle a bottle. Last week, we went on the hunt for an old service that we heard still existed in Brooklyn – seltzer delivery. Sure enough, we found a guy in Brooklyn who was willing to deliver seltzer to us once a month, so we decided to give it a shot. We got our first delivery Saturday morning. It consisted of ten beautiful vintage glass bottles delivered in a handmade wooden crate. The bottle designs are amazing. Each has a different illustration, probably dating back to when local seltzer production and delivery was a bigger industry. Of course we had to try the seltzer right away. While I’m no seltzer connoisseur, it seems to taste better than regular seltzer. It definitely has more fizz than a store-bought bottle – so much so, that a glass I poured the night before was still charged the next day. The best part is pouring the seltzer. The bottle stays on the counter – you simply bring a cup up and press down on the lever. The water shoots out of the spout like a water gun.
