Along the way, we spot this tiny Shinto shrine. Shintoism is a uniquely Japanese belief that there are many holy spirts in everything around us. The shrines honoring these spirits are the 'gates' that you see anywhere -- from the gutter of the sidewalk, to the entrance of a park. Perhaps this is a shrine for a very cute and helpful mouse.
