Marc: Yeah, Alphabet St. wouldn't have been as fitting, either. And not too mention songs with titles like Lovesexy, Glam Slam and Anna Stesia would have been much harder to fit in my comment!

Sheri:

It
Play In the Sunshine
Sign 'O' the Times
Strange Relationship

If I am up at 2am, things I am not doing: Checking the AIGA postings....

Also your post reminded me of two great articles written by Paul Shaw about signage in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Both are kind of long, but have great image collections:

Jonester, please post all of the "artist" song titles referenced so I don't have to go looking for them and I can marvel at your creative niche. :)

Jonester: I was originally going to call it "Alphabet Street" but it wasn't pun-y enough.

Katie: That's why you've got to be quick on the trigger at 2 a.m. !

The images are great. It's a nice substitute for all those who get closed out of the tour the millisecond after the tour is announced.

Love it! I wish I knew more about typography, thanks for taking us on a virtual tour, even if you didn't get to play in the sunshine. The changing materials used for the signage seems to be a sign of the times. And there were definitely some strange relationships between signage and buildings. I, too, adore the '2' in that 1929.

ps. Love the reference to you know what in the title. I included 5 song references from that album in my comment, just for you. ha ha
